These are stories of courage, healing, and transformation. Each survivor has shown incredible strength in their journey toward rebuilding their lives. Their stories inspire us and demonstrate the power of comprehensive support and community.

Doreen Favour Nsamba
Doreen's mother abandoned r at birth. As a child, she fled an abusive home and ended up on the streets of Kampala
Graduated from our program in 2024 and now supports herself independently.
Ndikuno Shabib
Shabib grew up in a ghetto under the care of his mother. After the death of his mother due to an illness. He survived on the streets by collecting cans and later engaging in theft. After almost dying in street gang violence, he was found in a hospital where a member of staff brought him under our care
His life was transformed, he stopped engaging in theft. He acquired skills as a baker, found a family and now he is gainfully employed
Ngobi Faisal
Faisal has always been on the street. Luckily he found GBV-AP.

Namukwaya Jamidah: From an Orphan, Street Child, Addict and Now
Orphaned at an early age, she found herself on the street with a constant lack of food, shelter. She engaged in drugs and alcoholism. She was forced into prostitution to survive. She got seriously depressed. And a friend introduced her to GBV-AP Uganda
The counsellors at GBV-AP helped her beat her alcohol, drug and smoking addiction. She got skills that she is using to better her life
